Networking plays a crucial role in the music industry, facilitating collaborations, promoting artists and their work, and fostering opportunities for growth and success. This thesis explores the significance of networking in the music industry and its impact on various aspects of the business and aims to give a comprehensive understanding to the many diverse forms of networking in the industry. It highlights the diverse forms of networking, including social media platforms, professional associations, and community service clubs. Furthermore, it examines the different types of networking relationships, such as casual contact networks, strong contact networks, and online/social media networks.

The thesis also discusses the relevance of network topology, outlining concepts like centralized networks, decentralized networks (blockchain and VCC), and distributed networks. It further emphasizes the importance of networking in relation to business models, digital and physical networking, and the practical application of networking strategies in the context of Skene Media, a multi-disciplinary music business company. Drawing upon a range of scholarly sources, including research on customer value propositions, disruptive technologies, social networks, and legal innovations in the music industry, this thesis provides insights into the significance of networking in shaping the dynamics of the music industry and fostering professional connections for artists, industry professionals, and stakeholders.

The thesis aims to examine and explore the importance of networking within the music industry. The paper aims to give a theoretical backbone and guideline for the different forms of networking that exist in the music industry. The goal is to create a comprehensive framework for artists and creators to evaluate their own professional networks and how they can identify needs in their own network. The thesis explores many different methodologies and concepts of networking. This methodology is then applied via a practical portion of the thesis and questioned via professional interviews. The finding of the thesis indicates the many nuances and importance of networking in the music industry and the relationships between many different parties operating in the industry.
